Transfer Website URL to Mobile Site URL when viewed from Mobile Devices

Here we will show you how you can help users migrate or transfer from your website’s normal desktop version to the mobile version when viewing your website from smartphones or tablets. Before proceeding further, keep in mind that you would need a mobile version of your website so that users can get the best possible view from mobile devices and other handheld platforms.

If you are using the Blogger or WordPress platforms for building your website, then you don’t have to worry about designing the mobile version of your site from scratch. Both of these platforms already have an in-built option for viewing your site in mobile devices in the admin panel itself. Now-a-days WordPress has many excellent themes that are very responsive and offering the users with a smooth functionality and experience when viewed from different platforms including PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Smartphones and so on. If you are using Blogger, you can enable or disable the mobile version of your blog in your template settings.

However if your website is completely self-made and personalized for both the desktop platform and the mobile platform, you can use the following process to transfer your normal desktop view of your website to the mobile version. This will help users view your website from any kind of mobile devices without any trouble.

Follow the steps mentioned below to transfer your normal desktop view of your website to the mobile version:

1. Open .htaccess

2. Insert the following code to “.htaccess”

#---------------------------------------- MOBILE DETECTION BEGIN ------------------------------------#

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} android.+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od)|iris|kindle|lge\ |maemo|midp|mmp|

RewriteRule ^$ http://[your mobile site url] [R,L]

#---------------------------------------- MOBILE DETECTION END --------------------------------------#

3. Change “[your mobile site url]” to your mobile site url. (For ex. http://m.mysite.com)

4. Now save the “.htaccess”

The above code will transfer all your web pages to your mobile home page, so that it can be viewed from smartphones or tablets. If you want to transfer your web page directly to the mobile version, instead of putting the above code in .htaccess, you have to put some extra code in your PHP pages.

Open => Edit the php pages that you want to transfer it to mobile php pages. Put the following code in the php pages below <?php

$useragent=$_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];
if(preg_match('/android.+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|opera m(ob|in)i|palm(

header('Location: http://m.javapipe.com/testing/pages.html');

Change the header location to your desired mobile site pages. The above code for example, will transfer the url “http://javapipe.com/testing/pages.html” to “http://m.javapipe.com/testing/pages.html” when get view from mobile devices.

If you are using that PHP page to generate many url like articles or posts, then you can use the help of sql to transfer the exact url to your mobile url pages.
